SUMMARY:🔔 Colorado Springs to mark 25 years since 9/11
DESCRIPTION:Members of the public are invited to join the City of Colorado Springs\, Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) and Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) to commemorate 25 years since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11\, 2001.\n\nThe ceremony will be held at the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial in Memorial Park and will honor the nearly 3\,000 lives lost\, the first responders who answered the call\, and those whose sacrifices continued long after Sept. 11.\n\nColorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade\, CSFD Deputy Fire Chief Jayme McConnellogue and CSPD Chief Adrian Vasquez will deliver remarks. The brother of retired CSFD Capt. Patrick Rogacki will also reflect on his brother’s deployment to Ground Zero and his later death from cancer attributed to his service at the World Trade Center site.\n\nThe ceremony will include the CSFD and CSPD honor guards\, the national anthem performed by local artist Terryjosiah Sharpe\, and a wreath-laying ceremony. A piece of steel recovered from the World Trade Center site will also be displayed at the memorial during the ceremony.\n\nA limited number of commemorative coins marking 25 years since Sept. 11 will be available to attendees.\n\nThe community is encouraged to join Colorado Springs first responders and city leaders as we remember those lost and their families\, honor those who answered the call\, and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
